USASA Soccer Fest to head to the mid-state area in July 2017
MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—July 10, 2017—Tennessee State Soccer Association (TSSA), along with the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA), is pleased to announce the country’s largest adult soccer event will be making its way to Richard Siegel Soccer Complex in Murfreesboro, July 12-16, 2017.
Soccer Fest, formerly known as Veterans Cup, offers divisions tailored to all ages and levels. The event offers opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to get back on the pitch. A week built around soccer, food and beer, the Adult Soccer Fest is sure to be fun for all involved.
“We are thrilled to announce this exciting event and opportunity for our soccer playing adults in Tennessee,” said Hans Hobson, executive director for TSSA. “To secure an event of this magnitude for Tennessee shows the commitment we are making to provide for more playing opportunities for our adult players. This event would not have happened without the hard work and vision of Derek Greene, Bryan Flanagan, and Otey Smithson. I am grateful to them for the time and effort it took to win this bid for us.”
Born as the Veterans Cup back in 1998, this event was created with the intention of providing high-level soccer to both men and women, whatever their age. Rivalries on the field have led to friendships off and helped turn this event into a week of competition and celebration for over 3,000 players, family members and supporters.
“As our vision unfolded trying to bring this event to middle Tennessee, it was very clear Barbara Wolke and her staff with the Rutherford County CVB, the Murfreesboro City Council, and Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation were all supportive of bringing an event of this size to Murfreesboro,” said Hobson. “Their willingness to work with us to make sure Soccer Fest is a fantastic experience for Tennessee Soccer, the participants, and for the City of Murfreesboro has been beyond helpful. We have a good working relationship with Murfreesboro leaders and we are excited to work closely with them next summer.”
