World’s Best Dogs Returning to Tennessee Miller Coliseum to Compete for World Championship Titles
MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—Sept. 19, 2017—The most prestigious event in the world of canine sports, the Cynosport® World Games, will be taking over Murfreesboro October 25-29. More than 1,000 canines and their human teammates from around the globe are participating in this fun, fur-flying event.
Cynosport® (pronounced see-no-sport) features dogs of all shapes, sizes, colors and breeds running nose-to-nose for the chance to be crowned the Grand Prix of Dog Agility® World Champion!
This is the third time the event has been held in Murfreesboro. In 2013 and 2015, the United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA) selected Tennessee Miller Coliseum as the facility of choice to host the event with over $1 million pumped into Rutherford County during each event week.
“The Cynosport® World Games not only attracts people from across the country, it also brings in tourism dollars from around the world because it is an international event,” explained Rutherford County CVB Chairman and Tennessee Miller Coliseum Manager, Travis Emore. “Over the five-day event, Rutherford county hoteliers, restaurants, and retail owners will see a significant influx of business. Here at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum, we are excited to showcase our diversity by hosting this event and we look forward to the support from our local community.”
As the ultimate family event, organizers invite the community to come watch the action in person, shop at the many unique pet vendors on hand and participate in a variety of other dog sports being showcased. Lure course, rally obedience and agility 101 will be offered for spectators and their well-behaved dogs to get some “paws-on” experience in these canine activities. For everyone’s safety, dogs must be on leashes no longer than six feet.
Studies show these types of activities create strong bonds between dogs and their owners resulting in well-behaved dogs both inside and outside the home. USDAA is dedicated to promoting the sport of dog agility as a recreational, family sport that fosters responsible pet ownership.
