Cookeville Selected to Host BCAT/TACA All-Star Basketball Classic

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Cookeville-Putnam County Visitors Bureau is no stranger to partnering with the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association, having served as the football all-star host since 2012. However, as the football event departs this year for a new venue in Clarksville, the Cookeville-Putnam County Visitors Bureau announces a new venture with TACA. The 2017 BCAT/TACA All-Star Basketball Classic will take place Saturday, April 1 at Cookeville High School.

The games will showcase the talents of the best-of-the-best basketball players, both boys and girls, from across Tennessee. All-star coaches will also be selected to participate. The girls will compete at 12:00 noon CT, and the boys will take the floor at 2:00 p.m. CT.

In addition to partnering with TACA, the games will also be coordinated with the Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee and have most recently been hosted in Murfreesboro, Tenn. at Blackman High School.

“Both TACA and BCAT are tremendously excited to bring this premier basketball event to Cookeville,” said Bill Marbet, TACA executive director. “This community has proven year-after-year that they can create unforgettable experiences for athletes, coaches and fans from a variety of sports.”

“We are excited to welcome players, coaches, families, and fans for a weekend of outstanding high school basketball,” said Zach Ledbetter, vice president of visitor development. “We have a continued strong relationship with TACA and look forward to offering these student athletes and their fans the hospitality we have become known for.”

The games will offer an added revenue for area hotels, restaurants, and retailers with many players and guests staying overnight. Cookeville’s newest lodging facility, TownePlace Suites, will serve as host hotel for the games. The Marriott property, located at 1250 Sam’s St., officially opened Feb. 23, boasting 92 suites, group rates, and easy access to both Interstate 40 and Highway 111.

Tickets will be available at the door for $10 adults and children under 10 years of age free. Ticket pricing includes access to both girls’ and boys’ games.
